The Old Hickory Flyers was formed in 1957 for the purpose of allowing its members to obtain instruction and education in aviation and to promote, encourage, and require a high standard of flying safety with its members and to encourage and support social activities among the members. It is a non-profit co-operative association.
The association currently owns a 1978 Cessna 172N Skyhawk (N739RB). The aircraft was painted and reupholsted in 2005. Besides the standard instrument stack, it includes an IFR GPS (Apollo GX 60) and Stormscope along with a Garmin 496 with XM weather capability. The aircraft is hangared at John Tune Airport in Nashville, TN., and is fully insured with AVEMCO Insurance Company.
