A Brief History

Flying since 1957

Old Hickory Flyers (OHF) was organized in 1957 and was issued a Tennessee state charter that same year. Since then, the organization has owned and operated a variety of aircraft in the pursuit of its chartered purpose:

  • Promote safe flying among its membership
  • Promote economical flying among its membership

Currently OHF owns one IFR-equipped aircraft, based at John C. Tune Airport (KJWN) near Nashville, TN.

N284CD

The Fleet

In August of 2020, OHF acquired a 2005 Cirrus SR22 GTS with tail number N284CD. This IFR aircraft offers the members several significant avionics and equipment upgrades, while continuing to provide Cirrus performance as well as the safety and security of the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System (CAPS).

Avionics equipment included with N284CD include:

  • Avidyne DFC90 Digital Autopilot
  • Two (2) Garmin GTN650 WAAS/GPS/NAV/COM units
  • GTX345 Transponder with ADSB
  • Avidyne Entegra Primary Color Flight Display (PFD)
  • Avidyne Entegra EX5000 MFD
  • Garmin 4 place intercom with GMA340 Audio Panel
